John Willett, NKTA Chair, and Don Willott, NKTA Sound to Olympics Greenway Trail Committee Chair, worked with leaders from the Jefferson and Clallam Co. Trails Coalitions to present a breakout session at the WSTC conference describing whatʼs on the ground and envisioned for extending a cross-state trail across Kitsap, Jefferson, and Clallam Counties as part of a Sound to Coast Greenway concept. John and Don described how the Sound to Olympics Greenway Trail, which has short segments already built on Bainbridge, will connect a branch from the Winslow Ferry across Kitsap beyond the Hood Canal Bridge to connect with the Olympic Discovery Trail. Another branch from the Kingston Ferry is planned to intersect, providing a northern connection to the Olympic Peninsula.
NKTA can take great pride in what it has achieved for the North Kitsap Community, Kitsap County, our Region and the State in 2010.
Our mission to unite North Kitsap with a neighborhood and regional system of land and water trails that promote stewardship of natural resources and enhances our communities is being achieved.
