Coordinating SR 305 Safety Improvements
with the Sound to Olympics Trail
The Washington State Department of Transportation held a public meeting recently to discuss plans for traffic improvements along SR 305 between Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo. A lot of the discussion dealt with special problems the roundabout included in those plans can present to bicyclist, especially those who are not commuters. In addition to safety issues NKTA attendees and other community members were very vocal about reminding officials of the need to plan those improvements with the Sound to Olympics Trail (STO) in mind. We feel it is vital to plan with an eye to the future, so all infrastructure improvements can accommodate the future STO. To that end, we would like to extend our appreciation to WSDOT for creating a public forum for community members and their concerns to be heard.
